With the broadest selection of healthcare doors and entrance solutions in the industry, Horton makes a difference in the patient experience and hospital efficiency.
Hospitals and medical facilities have specialized access needs that drive the toughest building codes. Horton continues to address these needs by developing first-to-market medical facility door solutions such as the self-closing smoke-rated ICU/CCU door systems and the first airborne infection isolation room door that requires no power. Staff, as well as patients, appreciate design details such as Mini-Blind and Opaque glass for privacy, light control and hygiene. Larger openings for moving beds and equipment are also now possible with the smoke-rated telescoping door system.
All around the facility, Horton healthcare doors are creating Grand® revolving door entrances, hard working interior and exterior doorways in swing, slide, or folding solutions, and even drive-up convenience with pharmacy windows. Unlimited custom configurations can be planned for any of these areas to differentiate your design.
SOM Architects of Chicago designed the patient rooms to maximize light and views to promote recovery. Every part of the design evokes a tranquil and therapeutic environment including the custom Horton Profiler® ICU, Smoke-Rated patient room doors. These beautiful doors allow light to filter from outside through the patient rooms and into the hallways.
For the inpatient floors, access to views and daylight is central to the design concept. Custom Horton Profiler sliding patient room doors allowed us to filter daylight throughout the floors of the building.”
This hospital incorporates many sustainable design principles and reflects the owner’s commitment to creating a healing environment for patients. Horton Automatics door systems are utilized in a number of applications including patient rooms, ICUs, and pharmacies.
"Horton Automatics and especially its distributor, Southwest Entrances, worked diligently to provide multiple access solutions to CO Architects for the Palomar Hospital project. Horton’s knowledge, expertise and breadth of product line are truly showcased in Palomar’s patient rooms, trauma unit and pharmacy labs."
Horton Automatics can be seen throughout the hospital and are featured prominently in the ICU and patient rooms.
"At Lurie Children’s, durability and reliability were of the utmost concern when selecting automatic doors for patient spaces in the ICUs and Emergency Department. Horton’s proven track record of providing the highest quality automatic doors made them the perfect choice for such critical locations."
Horton played an essential role in the building of this hospital by contributing swing, sliding, revolving and ICU/CCU manual sliding doors.
"The Johns Hopkins Hospital project was a monumental project with the construction of two structures; an Adult and Children’s’ Tower. The magnitude and visibility of the project is unique utilizing a wide variety of Horton Automatics products. This project was a combination of close coordination and cooperation with the owner, architect and general contractor resulting in a successful project worthy of Johns Hopkins Hospital’s world-wide reputation."
Horton Automatics was instrumental in providing custom-designed entrances for the fourteen state-of-the-art ISO Class 3 Clean Rooms.
"Horton’s hands-free, interlocking vestibule, sliding doors are an integral part of managing the critical pressure cascades required to maintain the ISO Class 3 Clean Room environments. The custom stainless steel finish was an ideal solution to the rigorous cleaning and sterilization procedures that take place several times a day."
Horton Automatics worked with Accesos Automaticos to ensure the best possible support and delivery of automatic doors for the hospital. With over 40 automatic sliding and swing doors installed, Albert Hanson, the facility manager at the hospital said, “Without door manufacturers here in Costa Rica, we seldom get the high level of customer service and technical support that we received from Horton.”
“Our satisfaction with Horton Automatic doors is very high and one of the best we have ever seen at the hospital. Horton is always helpful with their service and support.”
Architects at ZGF specified Horton Automatics for the sliding and swing doors. Bi-parting automatic sliding doors were installed in the ambulance, ER and main entrances. In the patient rooms, ZGF specified both smoke-rated and non-smoke rated manual ICU doors. Some of which are non-breakaway and some have full break-out capabilities for ease in moving beds in and out of the rooms.
“The installation at the St. Anthony Hospital was flawless. The Horton products that were specified were delivered on time and were easy to install.”
The Trauma Hospital is a subsidiary of the National Insurance Institute specializing in the care of traffic and work-related accidents. Horton Automatic was chosen to provide 73 entrances including telescoping, smoke-rated and surgical room lead-lined doors. They were the exclusive provider for automatic entrances at the new hospital.
“We needed an automatic entrance manufacturer that had experience in healthcare and could be easily customized. Horton was excellent when it came to the product and the commitment they had to see the job through. Communication was never a problem for us.”
