Keeping your buildings secure and safe
Horton Automatics has officially entered the bullet resistant door market with the launch of HD-Ballistic™, a UL 752 Level 3 certified sliding door system. Developed in response to stringent security demands—such as those required in the Indiana University Medical Center project—HD-Ballistic™ is a game-changer for facilities seeking high-level protection without compromising design.
Why It Matters:
While bullet resistant swing doors are common, sliding configurations in aluminum and glass are rare—primarily due to the weight and design complexity. HD-Ballistic™ overcomes these challenges using precision engineering, reinforced aluminum framing, Kevlar infill, and ballistic glazing. It’s tested and certified to withstand .44 Magnum rounds in both standard and extreme environmental conditions.
What Sets It Apart:
- UL 752 Level 3 compliance
- Compatible with Horton’s S2001 drive systems
- Custom-finish options with concealed fasteners
- Fully integrated safety features: keyswitch, autolock, battery backup
- Available in standard and breakout models
HD-Ballistic™ is more than a security upgrade—it’s a strategic tool for project pull-through. As seen with the IU Medical project, this solution opens doors to multimillion-dollar opportunities while delivering tangible safety and aesthetic benefits. As of this writing, Horton Automatics is the only automatic door manufacturer with a fully UL752 compliant automatic sliding door.
