Trackless, Easy-Slide Barn Door from Horton Now Available with Added Smoke-Rated Protection
The new FlexBarn™ Smoke-Rated sliding door is a welcome addition to the growing line of Horton barn doors. In 2024 we added a Sidelite option to improve the aesthetics of any entrance or corridor and to brighten up spaces to aid in patient recovery. And now in 2025, we are providing added safety measures for patients and other building occupants by offering a new UL174 smoke-rated design.
“The new FlexBarn Smoke-Rated design is an ideal solution for architects looking for a convenient, space-saving door that protects building occupants from smoke while it beautifies the space and improves the flow of pedestrian traffic,” said J Elias Campos, VP Marketing for Horton Automatics. “Further adding to its capabilities, this model is also available with an Automated Door Bottom that automatically lowers a drop bar seal when closed for improved acoustical performance.”
The attractive, multi-use design of the FlexBarn makes it a popular access solution for use in medical offices and patient restrooms, as well as office spaces and restricted spaces where a conventional swing door may block the flow of traffic. Tested to over 175,000 cycles, FlexBarn’s soft-close/soft-open dampening system featuring ADA -compliant hardware is easily activated by a gentle manual pulling force, providing smooth, seamless operation and system longevity.
These UL174 certified smoke-rated models are available in single-slide and bi-parting aluminum door and frame systems, and single-slide wood species (solid core lumber). Non-smoke-rated models are available in wet paint and powder paint and plastic laminate finishes.
Easy to install and customize, the surface-applied design of the FlexBarn Smoke-Rated comes in custom widths from 6’ 9” to 9’ 5” on single slides and 9’ 4” to 15’ 4” on bi-parting models.
